Install Optimum OLicense Floating License Server
This section is intended to be a quick-start guide for installing OLicense Server on Windows for use with SimWB under WSL.
The latest version of OLicense Server for Windows can be obtained by reaching out to Concurrent Real-Time support or by logging in to
the SimWB license website. Once installed, the floating license server can be used by SimWB
WSL installations within the same network. If installed as a daemon, the OLicense server is started automatically during the system
boot process.
Prerequisites
The following conditions must be met for the OLicense server install:
- The installation needs administrator privileges if it is intended to run as a daemon.
- The system chosen for the OLicense server install should be network ready.
- It is recommended that the server system runs permanently.
- Ideally, the system should not be running another web server that uses port 80 (default).
Install Process
Start the OLicense server installation program (OLicenseServer-4.9.5-Win32-2021-07-15-Setup.exe as of the writing of this guide).
Read and click through the Read Me and License Agreement panes that follow.
Choose the Typical installation dropdown option in the Components pane.
Set the install location and the Start Menu Folder to install the shortcut in.
OLicense Server Control program
Once the installation is complete, start the OLicense Server Control application. If you wish to install the server as a service/daemon,
the Control application needs to be launched with administrator privileges (this guide discusses the local install option). Choose the
Enable Floating, PayPerUse and NamedUser licenses checkbox, and click on the Start Local button. Click on the Open Browser Frontend button to launch
the web management interface. The browser page that opens should be pointing to 127.0.0.1 port 80. Click on the Administer Server button.
The default Username and Password are not set in the window that opens. Click on the Sign in button to bring up the Administration page.
Request License
Click on the Export Server Info button. This step generates a OLicense.olsiml file and downloads it to the default downloads folder.
This file contains the Preferred Server ID that uniquely identifies the host system running the OLicense Server. Send this file to Concurrent Real-Time support to
request a license file.
Once received, install the license file via the License Import pane by clicking on the Import License File Now button
in the OLicense Server Control application. The text box below the button should display the result of the import process.
The last step in the process is to set the IP address in the WSL instance via the file
/opt/Optimum/OLicenseServer/olicenseserver.ini.
