Generate List of Blocks that Map to RTDB Variables

This example shows how to generate a list of the blocks in a Simulink^® model that will map to RTDB variables.

Advantages of List of Blocks that Map to RTDB Variables

Obtain a definitive list of the blocks that will be converted to RTDB variables when you generate SimWB-compliant code.
Archive the list HTML and folder to document the history of the model and associated RTDB.

Open your Simulink model. For example, ccur_datastore_signal_types.

Open the SIMulation Workbench Preferences GUI. In the model editor, select SimWB > Preferences.
Select the Generate list of blocks that map to RTDB variables option:
- To generate this list after creating the RTDB for the model, click RTDB in the left-hand pane. Select the relevant option in the RTDB Generation Preferences tab.
- To generate this list after generating SimWB-compliant code for the model, click Code Generation in the left-hand pane. Select the relevant option in the Code Generation Preferences tab.
For this example, suppose you select this option in only the RTDB Generation Preferences tab.
Open the MLToolkit GUI. In the model editor, select SimWB> > Toolkit.
Configure the RTDB Creator tab as needed. Click Create and Upload RTDB.
The software creates the RTDB and uploads it to the RT-host machine. Then, it opens the Map of Model Blocks/RTDB Variables report.

The report includes a section titled "AIO/DIO RTDB Variables" when the signal.db generated includes AIO/DIO variables.
The software compiles the model each time the list is generated. For very large models with a significant compile time, consider unchecking the Generate list of blocks that map to RTDB variables option in the RTDB and Code Generation panes of the SIMulation Workbench Preferences GUI.
